Tanjung Pinang is the capital and second largest city within the Riau archipelego of Indonesia. Located on south part of Bintan island, Tanjung Pinang was a political center 500 years ago, when the Portuguese won the battle of Malacca and the Sultan Mahmud of Malacca fled there to create a resistance against the Portuguese's hostile expansion.

This weekend excursion was organised by Singapore Trekker and led by Adrian Loh. The 2D1N itinerary include visits to the quaint fishing villages, historical island settlements, Chinese fishing communities, Penyangat Island (for sunset) & Trikora, a pristine beach dotted with kelongs and fishermen (for sunrise).
